Events 2015

It  is actually scary how quickly now this annual post seems to come around- The “where I am when” post….

Once more, I will attempt to keep this as a central holder-of-all-dates place. Generally speaking-  the MOPARRC newsletter that goes out monthly is the most guaranteed way to know where I shall be on any date, but I will add to this post as things get booked.

March 9–  4pm Hastings and Main radio show on Coop Radio– an interview with Don Larson about the  Hastings Pollinator Zone markers and the new Trillium North Park

March 14– 11am-3pm Means of Production  Garden Work party- the glamor of shoveling wood chips!

March 15- 1-4 pm Trillium North Work party- working on the Pollinator House

March- May: various dates- Artists in Residence with grades 6/7 class from Strathcona Elementary. Rebecca Graham and I work with  David Gowman, Environmental Youth Alliance and students on building the bee homes for the pollinator  house  and starting a school flax for linen and dye garden. ongoing project to be documented on the park website.

March 23 – 1-3pm,  knitting pollinator zone markers with  folks from Hives for Humanity.

April 3-4 Gabriola Arts Festival, Weaving  fence/ living sculpture with David Gowman and  community participants.

April 7-10 Trillium North Park weaving with  Chloe Hight and After School Adventures Strathcona kids

April 11 – 11 am -3 pm Means of Production work party

April 12 – 1-3pm Trillium North work party

April 19 Stanley Park- Our first day of knitting ivy for the third round of  ongoing erosion control bio netting interventions! Once more, thrilled to work with the Stanley Park Ecology Society

April 26 City of Surrey Party for the Planet Earth Day events- weaving sculptures with park maintenance clippings.

April 27, 28, May 4, 5– weaving shoes with community dancers-  a part of the Terroir Urban Cloth project

May 8, 9,10The Big House Feast, organized by Vancouver Moving Theatre Company and hosted this time at the Ukrainian Hall

May-11,12   Co-presenter  with Tracy Williams at The 7th Canadian Community Play and Arts Symposium in preparation for the Train of Thought leaving Vancouver heading to the East Coast of Canada…! ( no, I won’t be on the train alas)

May 16 – 11 am -3 pm Means of Production work party

May 17 – 1-3pm Trillium North work party

May 26, June 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30- Tuesday nights 6-9 pm- Social Makers Night at Trillium North Park- come hang out, bring your hand work and a picnic.

June 6 –  1-3 pm Hastings Walk with Sarah Common and Hastings Urban Farm final celebration for Terroir: Urban Cloth

June 12- 7-9 pm Artist Talk on environmental art at the Anvil Centre in New Westminster

June 13 – 11am -3pm Means of Production work party

June 14 – Trillium North Park-

1-4pm weaving on the earth loom and monthly  work party

4.30-6.30: Final Celebration of Urban Cloth and  Buzzscaping Trillium North events.

July 6, 20, 27: Monday nights from 6-9pm Social Makers Night at Trillium North Park- come hang out, bring your hand work and a picnic.

July 11 – 11am-3pm, Means of Production Work party

July 12 – 1-3pm Trillium North Work Party

July 13- Nanaimo Weavers Group blackberry weaving workshop

August 8 11-3pm Means of Production Work Party

August 22 and 23 day events at Stanley Park – English ivy bio netting install and wattle weaving dates

September 1- October 4–  a return to my Catalonia Home at CACIS!

I expect I will be weaving more shoes in the pine forest of Cacis…

November 7– Port Moody Arts Centre- invasive plant and garden clean up weaving workshop
