Ok, this is pure simple self promotion at this point but I don’t get Robin Laurence, the Georgia Straight’s art critic to my little live work space everyday either, so why not crow a little I figure! I opened my email this morning to find a friend had forwarded the link to the webpage with the article Robin wrote after visiting me at home last week. The article is due in the paper out tomorrow and I had not even thought about the fact the web version is out earlier! no tension for the day now in waiting anticipation.
Always curious seeing my world through someone else’s eyes… I forget too easily the piles of drying flowers, mystery things rotting in jars, fibres hanging from the ceiling and stacks of plant mater in various levels of disorder. It is all so standard to me I don’t see most of it.
I patted myself on the back for not feeling a panic to wash my floors and tidy too much before her arrival, something I surely would have done but a few years ago.
Is my waning sense of domestic pride a sign of creative maturity or just plain old sloth?
Let us go with the former.
All said, Robin was kind in her words of my home and my work, and with luck I get some folks out to assist with the crocheting this weekend!
Once more, I will be in the Rose Garden of Stanley Park from 12noon-2.30pm and 3.30-6pm both Saturday and Sunday as a part of the Park’s 125 anniversary celebration, come by if you can, we will have you crocheting in no time!
