The Vancouver DrawDown Challenge has happened for a few years now across the city- and this year, the organizers wanted to go green… So Tiki Mulvihill and I put our heads together and had a great time coming up with 10 days of drawing challenges that anyone can try their hand at.
Each day has a quick challenge (5-10ish minutes) and a longer challenge ( 15-30ish minutes)- and, being both sculptors at heart we also wanted them to be a complete re-think in what drawing can be- what the surface might be constructed from, and what the drawing implement might be… have fun and join in, regardless of where you live!
Participants can follow on facebook or twitter ( yes, I had to write tweetable lengths..) and get sent the challenge each day- and post their results on the facebook page. Be prepared for something completely different…..
As a part of the challenge, there are over 30 events happening all over the city- mostly on June 15 check them all out here!
I will be at at Crab Park on June 12th from 6.30-8.30pm.
As we finish weaving the new protective border around the missing women’s memorial there will be lots of dried flower petals from the parks this spring for folks to do large drawings with as a large ephemeral mosiac :.….Rythms and Tidelines…. a hint.. it fits that days drawing challenge!
